What is AlT2su?
ALT2SU (Alternatives To Suicide) is a peer-led support group space for hairstylists, barbers, estheticians, nail techs, makeup artists, and other beauty workers to talk openly about thoughts, emotional pain, burnout, and life stress without judgment. The group centers connection, person-centered language, and mutual support, and participants are welcome whether they are in crisis or simply need a space to be heard. We believe honest conversation and mutual support can reduce isolation and help create more room for hope, connection, and survival

What to expect
In each group, people can:

Talk openly about suicidal thoughts, distress, or overwhelm, within the field

Listen and be listened to without judgment.

If open to it, share coping ideas, support, and lived experience.

Connect with others in the beauty industry who understand the pressure.
Your facilitators
Jules Garcia (she/her)
Licensed Esthetician and Makeup Artist
Jules has been in the beauty industry for over seven years, gaining firsthand experience with both its rewards and its challenges. Beyond her work in beauty, she is a dedicated mental health advocate and certified recovery support specialist, trained in Intentional Peer Support.
Jules is deeply passionate about the industry, as well as the well-being of those within it. Drawing from her lived experience within the industry, she creates meaningful connections and fosters open, supportive conversations within curiosity and vulnerbility. She is committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in the beauty industry and looks forward to building a community where professionals feel seen, heard, and supported.
